Open Competition 1 - 2nd October 2019
Open competition number one! This is the season opener, the first opportunity to score points, the importance to get good marks from the start – setting the personal standard for the months to come, well this may be true for some if you are the competitive type. But it does not matter if you aren’t, so long as you take part and a go and enjoy the experience.
Mid-Cheshire Camera Club welcomed back our Judge for the night – Mr Geoff Reader from Alsager Camera Club. The first competition was well attended with 21 prints and 45 Projected Digital Images (PDIs).
Geoff provided sound critique giving advice on – using light to assist in identifying the subject within the fame, ensuring there was a separation of the subject and other distracting objects and in portrait, images using the subject’s eyes to connect with the photographer. Geoff described various Photoshop and Lightroom techniques to improve the overall quality of our images. The standard was very high making the final selection in both the prints and PDIs a difficult one for Geoff.
