An intimate audience of about 20 members made it to the club to view in excess of over 80 Projected Digital Images depicting new work from across our membership. As usual, the standard was very high. This is a great competition to showcase new work and obtain a temperature test from a selection of good photographers as to whether an image has enough wow factor to generate votes to go through to the knock out rounds. The competition also allows one to try out new work in the safe knowledge that it will not affect any photographer of the year scores. With this in mind, there is no excuse for any member not to showcase their work.
We score images from all sorts of different genres – Landscape, Architecture, Nature, Record, Creative, Open, Portrait and Mono. Judging in the time frame was not easy and probably more difficult than when we have to judge images in the Small Print Competitions. It does give us a reality check as to what our Judges go through as it is definitely not an easy thing to do.
When we got down to the final, with only two images left, Ray Girling in a calm and modest way was revealed as the winner and second place runner up. His images are pictured within this article and give a good example to us all of what we are all working towards.
