Tonight, members of Mid-Cheshire Camera Club were joined by Geoff Reader (CPAGB / AFIAP / BPE2*) from Alsager Camera Club. Geoff has put a presentation together detailing the type of photography that matters to him paying special attention to Sport, Nature, Landscape and his main focus – People. Geoff has been with Alsager for 7 years. He is happy to take images of most things and for anyone. He devotes a lot of his time as the official photographer for a number of local organisations including the Fire Service at Alsager.
Geoff split his presentation into two halves, concentrating on Sport, Nature and Landscapes first and then after tea and biscuits moving onto People. Geoff was keen to impart his knowledge on photographic locations, composition and perspective however, Geoff went further describing the personal and sometimes emotional journey that he took in obtaining some of his images. Geoff was keen to emphasise that he took photographs for himself, not for competitions – if he liked something he would photograph it.
Like a lot of photographers, Geoff is a knowledgeable user of photoshop and was happy to share his skills with the audience going into detail about subject separation, colour matching for composite images and much more. Geoff ensured he hand a number of stories to accompany the images in his presentation. This often resulted in a ripple of chuckles across the audience.
All in all, this was a very pleasant evening where we had the chance to share a photographic journey with a softly spoken chap, who like us, is fanatical about his photography – and that’s all that matters.
