Supporting St. Luke’s Hospice 5K Fun Run
Mid-Cheshire Camera Club was asked to provide some volunteer photographers for St. Luke’s Hospice Bubble Rush 5K run on Saturday 14th May and so six of us arrived at Oulton Park at mid-day ready for action.
The sun was shining and the disco music was pumping as over 3,500 men, women and children gathered for this important fund raising event for our local hospice. The dress code must have been “the brighter the better” as we saw everything from multi-coloured tutus to Superman and Superwoman outfits to grass skirts to shocking pink wigs to butterfly wings adorning a very excited bunch of participants. At each station coloured foam was pumped out and soaked the runners much to their delight!
The six volunteer photographers were Jim & Jean Cain, Joffre Trotman, Matt Eatles and Ray & Kath Hill and boy did we have our work cut out! Each was given a station to man with the request to capture as many people as possible, as everyone taking part would be keen to see their photograph on St. Luke’s Facebook page.
At about five o’clock, and with few runners left on the circuit, six exhausted photographers called it a day. It had been very tiring but great fun and a delight to see so many happy people having the time of their lives. Now all we had to do was download and process a few thousand images - easy!
